Outreach Guidelines
  • The Outreach Committee is responsible for directing the Outreach Ministry of the congregation of the Amelia Plantation Chapel. The goal is to plan for the distribution of 30% of the offerings received by the Chapel annually. The Committee reviews all requests for support received and gives special consideration to suggestions by the membership concerning worthy causes of which they have personal knowledge. The primary consideration when selecting recipients of outreach giving is to choose organizations that best perform the commissions of Jesus Christ: to feed the hungry; to clothe the naked; to give shelter to the homeless; to care for the sick; to visit the imprisoned; and to go into all the world with the message of the Gospel.
  • The outreach budget is divided into two categories: national/international ministries, and local ministries, which include all of Northeast Florida. The local needs have increased lately, because of the population growth and the number of new Christian causes that have been organized to support this growth. The individual charities are evaluated on an annual basis to determine where the emphasis should be placed for the coming year. Currently we are supporting nine national/international and fifteen local causes.
  • The following basic guidelines are followed in the evaluation of recipients of our support:

    • All gifts must be made to Christian causes.
    • Recipients must be non-denominational, "tax exempt, not for profit" organizations.
    • Giving to a single recipient shall not exceed 10% of the annual outreach budget including any approved special gifts.
    • No gifts of outreach funds may be given to organizations that receive government funding.
    • Each charity must submit their annual financial statement for review to determine the amounts spent on programs, administration and fundraising. Our goal is support charities that get most of our funding into programs.
